Position Summary:

These research and concept development activities are intended as a provocation of a future perspective to be shared with all.

We are currently looking for an Intermediate level person to join our Corporate Design & Innovation department located at our North York, ON head office. This position will focus on developing and managing an ongoing AC program including research, concept development, and communications using consulting SMEs and design resources.

Reporting to the VP of Design and Innovation, the successful candidate will be design curious and collaborative, and will enjoy working with many outside design contributors to explore thought provoking topics and ideas and product experiences for the evolution of work, workers, and workplace.

Responsibilities:

• Define a new and repeatable process for the AC program, that builds upon and evolves our brand aspect of Innovation.
• Define the program brief, and manage schedule, budgets, and deliverables involving both internal and outside contributors and consultants .
• Select and define possible future-relevant topics as determined through industry insights, research exploration, and executive inputs.
• Facilitate and lead collaborative workshop discussions on key topics involving SMEs and concept designers.
• Identify and engage relevant consulting resources including writing and managing contractual agreements and pay schedules.
• Liaise with Marketing and Sales for exhibit and communications purposes
• communicate any project related issues to management in an accurate and timely fashion
• create formal and informal presentations to support development work and communicate program intent with the ability to modify style and content to communicate with various audiences (internal and external).

Skills & Knowledge

• sketch / think on paper in order to solve concept design problems

• ability to integrate & synthesize external inputs in the development of ideas; agile and adaptable as project needs change
• self-manage time, tasks, and next steps; pay attention to detail and verify work continuous learner, curious
• working knowledge of materials and manufacturing process and their impact on designs
• proactively assists and involves others; initiates collaboration and seeks input from others
• demonstrates integrity; treats everyone equally with fairness, honesty, and respect
• strong verbal and written communication skills as well as creative visualization/drawing skills
• strong organizational skills and self directed
• strong knowledge of model building, proficient in reading technical drawings

Education / Technical Qualifications

• Bachelor of Industrial Design, Interior Design, or Architecture degree
• 7+ years work experience managing (design related) projects, creative people, and timelines.
