The Opportunity

• Conduct quality assurance assessments of coding staff in accordance with Vituity assessment plan; review results with coding staff and management as applicable.
• Assists in reviewing and processing QCQ encounters providing feedback to the coders and analysts for coding education.
• Answer coder questions for correct coding of evaluation and management levels, diagnoses codes, CPT codes, site specifics and most coding concepts.
• Works with supervisors and management by providing feedback of any ongoing coder issues and/ or trends that have been identified through the review process.
• Assist with overflow coding, as needed, to meet company deadlines.

Required Experience and Competencies

• One (1) year continuous daily medical coding experience required.
• High school diploma or equivalency or general education degree (GED) required.
• Certificate of completion of a medical coding course that includes medical terminology required.
• Must possess Certified Professional Coding credential (CPC) (or equivalent) or pass CPC (or equivalent) within six (6) months of job appointment required.
• Two (2) years continuous daily medical coding experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology including basic knowledge of pathology and etiology of disease, body areas and organ systems.
• Strong understanding of Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision (ICD 10).
• Critical thinking and analytical skills; judgement and reasoning abilities to make appropriate medical coding decisions.
• Ability to work under pressure to meet production and quality standards.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally, including presentation skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure to meet production and quality standards.
• Basic understanding of and ability to use Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
