Database engineer

As a database engineer, you will provide solutions for multiple database technologies, and will be responsible for fast-paced, complex distributed database environments supporting both OLTP and OLAP systems across multiple platforms. This role requires you to be able to rapidly troubleshoot complex technical problems under pressure, implement solutions that are massively scalable, while managing multiple customer groups.

We practice a remote first working model, leveraging in person interactions at our head office, in beautiful Vancouver, BC, for strategic, collaborative and social purposes.

What you’ll do:

• Work closely alongside the development, application and testing teams during project design, build, testing through to deployment phases

• Provide operational work and be on-call to provide additional support

• Collaborate with teams to understand database needs and support

• Design automation solutions for provisioning and maintenance

• Develop scripts and workflows for database tasks

• Ensure security and compliance standards and monitor and troubleshoot processes

• Promote best practices for schema evolution and testing

• Improve database performance and offer expert guidance on database design

• Create documentation, training and stay updated on emerging technologies for continuous improvement

What we’re looking for:

• 5+ years of experience in database administration, development, and performance management

• 2+ years of proven experience with Oracle database administration

• Proficiency in NoSQL, CosmosDB or Couchbase

• Proficiency in relational database management systems, such as Oracle, SQL Server

• Experience with Microsoft Azure

• Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL, and database scripting

• Skills in version control systems like Github or Bitbucket

• Strong emphasis on CI/CD pipeline development and management

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical leadership skills

Base pay range

Annual salary: $91,345.00 – $96,153.00
