Essential Job Functions 

Strategic Thinking & Goal Development

• Develops and advocates for Kalsec’s Corporate Responsibility goals, strategies, and initiatives.
• Maintains KPIs that support the company strategic plan and publishes an annual sustainability report including KPI’s to board of directors.
• Develops and assesses viability of global strategies through the lens of equity and justice, GHG reduction, increase usage of renewable resources, improve efficiency, reduce energy costs, reduce food loss & food waste.
• Develops and implements governance policy and strategy for Kalamazoo Holdings and for crafting relevant goals, policies, and programs.
• Partners with Officers, Board of Directors, Business unit leaders, employee resource groups (ERGs) and others in the company on trending sustainability initiatives and topics.
• Identifies external sustainability relationships and educational opportunities in the community and across the global industry to stay current on industry/market trends to build future initiatives.

B Corp

• Leads the effort to fulfill the commitment as a B Corp as the key point of contact for Kalsec for the B Corp Community and B Lab, in the design and implementation of business strategies to support B Corp Certification.

Greening & Sustainability

• Develops a comprehensive annual impact plan in concert with business units and operational groups covering GHG emission reduction, food loss and waste reduction and employee engagement through the lens of environmental justice.
• Develop and maintain annual GHG inventory, Carbon Action Plan progress and SBTi target progress.
• Drives sustainability and greening initiatives throughout the company.
• Annually conducts carbon footprint/greenhouse gas emissions analysis and works with appropriate resources needed to align on reduction goals. Analyze areas of materiality and gain support from internal stakeholders for crafting a footprint reduction strategy.

Impact Team / Employee Engagement

• Increase employee awareness of their role and impact on the company’s social & environmental efforts through communication, coordinating community related projects and events, helping create incentive programs, SharePoint communications, and delivering presentations

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

• Serve as internal expert and external representative on CSR issues. Benchmark’s competition and industry best practices.
• Craft CSR plans and work with internal stakeholders to implement them. Manage and track goals and metrics.
• Manage CSR process, including reporting, digital portal management, hosting events, attending conferences, and seeking out ongoing education to ensure we are up to date on best practices.
• Develop & lead annual stakeholder Develop and implement environmental messaging, education, and promotion internally and for guests, with the company’s communications team.

Team Alignment & Development

• Leads initiatives that model, support, and drive the company values throughout the organization.
• Identify awareness, educational and coaching needs to support responsibilities listed above.

Education/Experience/Skills:

Required:

• 5+ years Industry experience
• BS Engineering or Sustainability or BA Business
• Strategic, visionary, systemic thinker
• Excellent Communication. Critical thinking, Problem solving, and Collaboration skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects at a time, to completion
• Experience leading and influencing in a matrixed organization
• Extensive knowledge and experience in CR practices and policies.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to speak in public forums
• Sustainability Excellence Professional (SEP) Certification (ISSP) or similar credentials and/or experience or willingness to pursue credentials within first year.

Desired:

• MBA in business and/or sustainability
• Experience interpreting and reporting to B Impact Assessment, Sedex, CDP, GRI, UNSDG’s, UNGC
• Experience delivering company objectives following Greenhouse Gas Protocol, Carbon Action Plans, Science Based Targets, waste reduction.
• Food and Beverage and/or Ag industry experience
