The Emergency Preparedness Coordinator develops implements and monitors emergency operations plans that support the facility operations, protects the safety of patients, visitors, and employees, and assures that the facility is compliant with regulatory requirements. The Emergency Preparedness Coordinator demonstrates current knowledge of disaster preparedness practices, regulatory requirements, policy, and procedures, and supports the ongoing education of employees, patients, visitors and community stakeholders. The Emergency Preparedness Coordinator facilitates grant activity, responds to grant requests, manages grant funding preparations, and maintains documentation requirements related to grant funding. The Emergency Preparedness Coordinator facilitates disaster/emergency supply inventory to assure facility preparedness.
Essential Functions:
Coordinates management of inventory of equipment and supplies, including all hospital evacuation, HAZMAT, and decontamination equipment.
Coordinates management of supplies that are stockpiled for disasters. This requires careful monitoring of expiration dates and coordination with hospital Materials Management to rotate new stock.
Works with hospital leadership to identify weaknesses related to disaster preparedness, brainstorming solutions, and strategizing corrective plans.
Coordinates the processes required to complete the projects identified to correct weaknesses.
Coordinates and works with personnel throughout the organization to complete the required tasks.
Performs and assists with the development of emergency preparedness and disaster related training to all levels of employees and staff.
Develops, writes, and revises emergency plans including the emergency operations plan.
Represents Nemours Delaware Valley locations in community emergency preparedness planning groups.
Works with the Director of Facilities & Environmental Safety to promote and integrate the NCH D emergency operations plans into existing community plans.
Supports NCH D Hazardous Material and Waste program, submitting reports, implementing training and education, and documenting regulatory performance indicators.
Qualifications:
Associates degree required.
3-5 years of job related experience
Certified Healthcare Emergency Professional (CHEP) preferred.
