Seeking Junior Technician – Winnipeg, MB for immediate hire. Accepting applications from all groups.
General Responsibilities:
The Technician will support the existing Building Science Solutions business by performing site reviews of work-in-progress construction on commercial construction projects. Site reviews include visual observation and functional performance testing of building envelope components to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications, component installation instructions, and building codes. The Technician will also assist in laboratory product testing as required.
Responsibilities:
Perform reviews of installed building envelope components and assemblies – including air and vapour barriers, subgrade waterproofing and dampproofing, insulation, fenestrations (including windows, doors, skylights, curtain wall, and storefront) and roofing to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications, component installation instructions, and building codes.
Perform field testing of building envelope components to ensure compliance to project specifications.
Provide written reports for all site reviews and testing.
Create and manage punch lists for on-going projects.
Keep all information confidential to each client.
Assist/perform laboratory testing of building envelope products.
Qualifications:
3+ years of related experience and/or commercial construction experience
Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications
Technical knowledge of building construction
Technical knowledge of building envelope systems
Computer skills (required: Word, Excel, Acrobat; asset: AutoCAD)
Ability to travel
Valid Drivers’ License and acceptable driving record
