The Laboratory Technician is responsible for sample processing and aliquoting in the Sample Processing Services Department. You will process samples, including nucleic acid extractions, PBMC/BMMC isolations, plasma separation, specimen aliquoting, and other methods as required. Sample integrity to meet client expectations is of utmost importance.
What will you do?
Perform extraction and purification of nucleic acids as defined by relevant SOP’s
Help maintain adequate supply of reagents, supplies and sample processing kits
Perform methodologies as specified in technical protocols to isolate and stabilize blood cells
Complete Blood/body fluid fractionation into components as requested by clients
Document all required maintenance activities on instruments related to Sample Processing
What will you bring to the table?
Bachelor’s degree in a life science is preferred
Working knowledge of sample processing requirements in a clinical laboratory
Strong attention to detail, strong planning and problem-solving skills
Universal precaution and human specimen knowledge
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and database software
MLS (ASCP) or MLT (ASCP) preferred
Working Conditions/Physical Demands, Travel, etc.
Frequently required to sit, talk, and hear
Occasionally required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms
You must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty pounds
Specific vision abilities required – close vision and ability to adjust focus
