The Team
The Data Governance and Operations team is one of the five verticals within the newly established Chief Data Office (CDO), part of T. Rowe Price’s Chief Operating Office (COO). The team is responsible for establishing and leading a firm-wide data governance framework across all aspects of T. Rowe Price’s data operations and infrastructure. As a key pillar of the firm’s risk management framework, the team is on the front lines of protecting the franchise, internal and regulatory compliance and driving operational excellence. This role is part of the Data Governance & Management team that sits under Data Governance & Operations.
The Role
The Lead Analyst, Data Governance & Management reports to one of the Data Governance Director positions covering a specific business area (Investments, Investment Operations, Distribution or Corporate & Risk). As a Lead Analyst in this team, you will support the deployment and enforcement of a firmwide data governance framework and operating model (e.g., policies, standards) and data practices technically and functionally.
The role will help drive engagement and accountability across business data owners and stewards including chairing area-specific (e.g., Investments) Data Governance Councils. In deploying a data governance framework and operating model, you will support the definition, governance and execution for data domains (Single Sources of Truth – SSOTs); maintain firmwide data catalogues and meta data, onboard new datasets and ensure ongoing updates to existing data sets.
You will also support the implementation and day-to-day operations of data quality standards and a robust measurement framework. In partnership with colleagues from Risk and InfoSec, you will also prevent data misuse and loss through data classification and access controls.

The role is critical to the successful implementation and operationalizing of a modern data governance framework and operating model. Working across the area you support; you will establish strong partnerships with leaders and users of data within the business using your communication and influencing skills to drive behavioral change and best-practice. Your work will be highly impactful in driving important change and governance initiatives and running best-in-class operations.
Key Accountabilities
Run day-to-day operations and execution of key initiatives for the Data Governance & Management team.
Provide hands-on data governance support to the business area you cover.
Work on drafting policies, standards, data processes from a functional and technical perspective aligned to the firm’s data governance principles.
Support adherence to data governance standards, policies and processes through a combination of monitoring and active engagement with business partners.
Attend meetings, councils and other data governance forums representing the business area you support and the CDO.
Build a community and partnership between Data Governance & Management and business data owners and stewards. Develop a deep understanding of the business you are supporting.
Maintain a firmwide data catalog with primary responsibility for your business area.
Implement data quality standards and measurement frameworks.
Support the adoption of new ways of working through a range of different channels and engagement approaches.
Operate mechanisms to ensure adoption and measure the impact of governance and standards on different business outcomes via improved scaling, speed to market, cost reductions and improvements in overall quality of solutions.
Prevent data misuse and loss by taking a proactive approach to data classification and access controls.
Create and maintain appropriate program management and project artifacts working within a scaled Agile framework
Experience & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
8+ years of total relevant work experience
A solid understanding of data governance principles, frameworks and methodologies, and experience applying them in the real world
Execution excellence and a track record of delivering long term business value
Strong risk management awareness and understanding
A sound understanding of financial markets
Ability to operate effectively in complex and ambiguous environments
Strong analytical skills and the ability to aggregate and simplify complex, disparate information
Strong written and oral communications skills

Highest level of integrity and the ability to foster trust
Preferred Requirements
Advanced degree
In-depth understanding of asset management industry
Experience leading and working in Agile environments, ideally at scale
Lean Six Sigma or related skills and experience
FINRA Requirements
FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role.
Work Flexibility
This role is eligible for remote work up to two days a week.
