Position: Mainframe Network Engineer

Reports to: Senior Manager – Mainframe Hardware & Network Engineering

Job Description:

As a member of the Mainframe Network Engineering team, you will collaborate with other Senior Engineers across the enterprise. The Mainframe Network Engineering team is responsible for the Design, Configuration & Maintenance of IBM System z Hardware & Software as it relates to the network. They are also responsible to setting up any Network Monitoring / Alerting as well as documentation & training. This position requires configuration changes using Service Now to take place during our scheduled Change Windows. Occasional night shift work & weekends for these changes are required. 24×7 on call support on a rotating basis is required.

Qualifications:

• Expert knowledge & experience of IBM z mainframe systems & technology
• Expert knowledge & experience with z/OS (MVS) operating systems

Focus on Communications Server & related Networking products.

• Technical leadership of large-scale mainframe infrastructure projects
• Hands on technical expertise building & supporting Mainframe Network Environments.
• Self-motivated professional capable of working independently and part of a large team.
• Strategic thinker & results-orientated individual.
• Ability to coordinate projects in a fast-paced service-oriented environment.
• Strong overall problem-solving skills with excellent verbal & written communication skills.

Responsibilities:

• Expert knowledge & experience of IBM Mainframe Systems & for the z/OS Operating Systems. Specific focus on z/OS Communications Server & related z/OS Networking Products. z/VM Networking experience is a plus.

• Configure, Implement, Maintain & Support Mainframe Network Components: TCP/IP including OSA, DVIPA & DDVIPA, IPSEC, IPFILTER, Intrusion Detection Services (IDS), Enterprise Extender (EE), SNA, APPN, TN3270E, SMTP, Netview.

• Configure, Implement, Maintain & Support Transmission Products – FTPs (SSL), SFTP (SSH), & Connect: Direct Secure (NDM)

• Configure, Implement, Maintain & Support Session Manager applications – CA TPX, IBM CL/Super Session

• Support TCP/IP encryption methods vis z/OSMF (IPSEC, AT-TLS, & TLS) & monitoring of protocols & cyphers

• Provide physical & logical connectivity between applications & Mainframe subsystems.
• Network Performance tuning. The development of operational procedures & diagrams.
• Network Monitoring – Omegamon, Netview, Mainframe Tracing, Sniffers, CA Netmaster, Network Behavior Analyzer & Main View.

• Network Design skills – Provide detailed technical solutions & Network Diagrams.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 116,400 – 194,000 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
