The maintenance planner is responsible for maintaining the efficiency and optimal performance of the tools, equipment, and machinery by scheduling routine checks, troubleshooting, repairing, and upgrading them as needed.

Essential Job Functions

• Complete all training required to become a proficient user of JD Edwards software.
• Maintain the scheduling of work order activities utilizing JD Edwards software.
• Updating and creating preventative maintenance task lists and procedures using JDE.
• Responsible for the initial screening of incoming work orders to identify the scope and

initiate the start dates and change status during the timeline.

• Work closely with the stock cage coordinator to have all necessary parts available for    work orders
• Work closely with the manufacturing planner to ensure that work orders and  

maintenance are completed and closed in a timely manner.

• Schedule and coordinate outside contractors to complete all work orders. Attach all documentation from contractor that applies to the work order for audit checks.

• Work closely with maintenance supervision for the coordination of activities and assign the appropriate work order to the skill of the laborer selected.
• Identify supplier/vendor for parts to reduce cost and/or increase availability
• Obtain all scheduled PM and work orders upon completion, log deficiencies and findings, generate follow-up work orders as required and complete in JDE.
• Share results, gap analysis and plans at the Monthly department results review.
• Create charts in Excel from data downloaded from JDE. Examples of data should include open vs. closed work orders, labor description and downtime per machine, Top 5 downtime items. These charts will be used to push efficiency gains for the department.
• Responsible for maintaining Technical Documentation for the maintenance department.
• Project support as needed and Project Management.

Important Other Skills/Abilities

• Proficient use of computer or tablet
• Proven organization and data entry skills
• Ability to communicate clearly with written and verbal communication
• Must be proficient in math
• Detail oriented with strong clerical skills
• Be proficient in Microsoft Office products, Excel/Word and JDE
• Ability to learn other software as required (Microsoft Great Plains, CMMS)

• Equipment parts identification ability (electrical, mechanical, hardware, tools)

Education/Work Requirements

• HS Diploma or equivalent
• Manufacturing experience preferred
• Maintenance/repair experience a plus
• Eligible to work in the United States
• Previous Maintenance Planning position is preferred

Physical Demand Characteristics:  Light – Lifts 10 lbs. or less frequently; lifts 25 lbs. occasionally.  Walks and/or stands most of the day.  Bends and stoops frequently.  Pull/pushes equipment, carts, etc. on a regular basis.
