Medical Underwriting Supervisor

Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for leading a team of underwriters and underwriting support staff, typically 12-16 direct reports in an operational environment. Key responsibilities include monitoring daily staff performance, coordinate schedules and workflow, reporting, maintaining Quality Assurance standards and guidelines to adhere to published Service Level Agreement. Individuals generally work independently, maintaining extensive knowledge of Underwriting and New Business guidelines, policies and procedures with guidance on complex issues. Maintain knowledge and administrative responsibly of MIB, and Milliman IntelliScript consisting of quarterly testing and periodic production releases. Demonstrate innovation by identifying and executing process improvements. Recruit, interview, assist in training, and motivate Underwriting staff.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma required
• 2+ years relevant experience
• Extensive knowledge of Medicare Supplement, Supplemental Health and Life contract requirements preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as, listening and conflict resolution skills
• Experience training others
• Ability to affectively adapt and respond in a complex, fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Ability to maintain positive/productive relationships
• Ability to exercise administrative judgment and assumes responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results that have an impact on people, costs, and/or quality of service within the functional area
