Packaging Operator, 2nd shift: 4PM-2:30AM, Mon-Thur

Routinely package Biological products per the controls and control records (SOPs, MDs, etc,) and in accordance with approved specifications and regulatory requirements.  Shall be mechanically inclined and capable of complete set-up, operation, troubleshooting and dismantling for cleaning, all filling, labeling, and packaging and non-technical production equipment in a safe and efficient manner and with minimum supervision.  Must be able to proceed independently and accept all responsibilities for jobs within the grade.   

Basic Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED

• Successfully pass required vision test

• Communication Skills

• Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to train others. 

• Mathematical Skills

• Perform calculations and conversions involving weights, volumes, and percentages.

• Reasoning Ability

• Ability to use basic logic to identify and solve problems

• Knowledge and skill to recognize creative ideas that add value and are able to be implemented to improve efficiency, effectiveness and reduce complexity for department

• Mechanical Aptitude

• Demonstrated understanding of systems, equipment, and processes

• Computer Skills/Experience with Windows Operating System.

• Comprehension and application/Proficient reading, comprehension and application skills toward a diverse set of complicated tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Additional Education and/or Equivalent Experience

• Successful completion of National Career Readiness Work Keys assessment

• Knowledge of Hazardous Waste Handling

• Knowledge of Traffic Patterns

• Knowledge of or evidence of working with BPE methods

• Understanding of Basic GMP/Documentation practices

• Demonstrated ability and understanding of Safe working habits

• Ability to work in a team environment

Job Responsibilities

• Perform duties to include: filling, labeling, packaging

• Weighing and measuring using the metric system

• Prepare, read, understand, and follow all assigned procedures, schedules, records, calculations and documentation

• Follow Standard Operating Procedures for the handling of hazardous wastes

• Perform inspection and assessment of equipment and material condition prior to use 

• Document operations with strict adherence to cGMP documentation practices

• Assist staff in developing new procedures and methods or improving old ones

• Use and understand computer assisted data entry, including applicable ERP System, and process logic controllers (PLC’s)

• Maintain label integrity within the packaging operations to prevent mix-up or mislabeling

• Perform final product quality inspections

• Perform line audit to insure proper material usage

• Perform packaging assembly without mix-up or omission of components

• Clean and organize production rooms

• Monitor product storage criteria and maintain proper temperature

• Meet production standards

• Routine and consistent attendance is necessary and important to the safety and operational policies and will be required to retain this

• Assist higher grade operators under supervision Assisting with the training of workers in the same or lower grades May perform jobs of the lower grades as required Perform other duties as assigned
