Job Summary:The Press Feeder is responsible for directly assisting the Press operator in producing all offset press projects in compliance with job specifications and in accordance with company quality standards and procedures. Coordinates workload schedule to meet customer time frame requirements while achieving optimum productivity. Performs daily/weekly/monthly maintenance on equipment to ensure optimum output. Works closely with other team members to exceed customer expectations.
Salary Range: $20.00 – $26.00 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
Assist Press Operator in functions as noted on the work order/job tickets.
Responsible for operating and maintaining the feeder section of the offset press.
Assist in operation of offset press to produce jobs.
Perform set up for feeding-end.
Ensure paper is loaded into the feeding-end for running jobs, as well as maintain paper supply throughout the job run.
Remove and clean plates and cylinder at end of press run.
Assist in washing blankets, ink fountains, rollers, etc.
Mount plates and cylinders and make appropriate adjustments.
Perform routine operational maintenance and minor repairs to equipment.
Fill the ink foundation and control colour.
Conduct preventive maintenance on assigned offset press.
Mix ink when required and interface with the Customer Service Representative (CSR) and the Press Operator.
Maintain knowledge of safety requirements of job and equipment; be familiar with Material Safety Data Sheets regarding chemicals used.
Other duties as assigned by the Press Operator and/or the supervisor.
Key Experience & Qualifications:
High school or GED equivalent.
Minimum of two years experience in a commercial printing company or equivalent manufacturing industry.
Experience with commercial sheetfed work preferred.
Ability to work in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
Solid understanding of offset lithographic process.
Strong mechanical skills, manufacturing experience, and the ability to follow detailed instructions.
Strong interpersonal skills e.g. working well with others, communication, positive attitude.
Strong computer skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Good mathematical skills.
Able to apply written instructions to machine set-up and maintenance.
Meet or exceed minimum test results as designated by the hiring manager.
Working Conditions:
Standing for prolonged periods of time – up to 8 hours or more per day.
Frequent pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, and twisting up to 50 lbs is required.
Work area may have fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.
Noise level is usually moderate to loud.
Exposure to ink and chemical fumes, and airborne particles such as paper dust and drying powder.
Appearance at all times must represent the company image.
Fast-paced environment subject to numerous schedule and priority changes and short notice activity.
Additional hours may be required due to operational requirements.
