Quality Engineering Assistant – Communications
OTTO’s opportunity:
Our Quality Engineering Assistant – Communications is responsible for assisting the Quality Engineering Department in the execution of the quality program.
Specifically, the Quality Engineering Assistant – Communications will:
Troubleshoot and drive root cause analysis for customer product returns (RMA’s). Initiate and coordinate corrective and preventative actions and verifications of effectiveness. Work with Customer Service team to address customer complaints on product issues.
Generate Quality documentation, data analysis, and reporting for Quality Engineers.
Assist in Failure Analysis and Corrective Action program with Quality Engineers.
Generate, evaluate, and perform acceptance test procedures.
Conduct source inspection per OTTO and/or customer requirements.
Conduct certain process verification (e.g. solderability, ESD compliance, etc.)
Audit in-process operations and identify opportunities for improvement.
Participate in the Material Review Board (MRB) which includes developing and addressing Material Review Reports (MRRs) and performing part analysis as directed by Quality Engineers.
Participate in the maintenance of OTTO’s ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 Registration and AS9100 registration.
Provide training and oversight on various inspection procedures to production and quality personnel.
Assist Quality Engineers with reviewing incoming, in-process, and final inspection. Inspections will include printed circuit board assemblies, audio performance, cosmetic, product workmanship and various component parts.
Assist with other related duties as required or assigned.
What you’ll need to bring to the table:
High school diploma or equivalent. Associates degree in electronics preferred.
Minimum 2 years’ experience in troubleshooting electronics.
Experience with audio products and evaluating audio performance preferred.
Must have strong advanced math skills and be detail oriented.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to use various measurement devices (mechanical, electrical and audio).
Computer literate in all Microsoft office applications.
Availability for nonstandard or extended work hours.
Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to write detailed reports.
Requires self-motivation and ability to complete projects with strict guidelines.
Requires the ability to differentiate between colors.
Requires the ability to pass a standard hearing test.
Requires the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
Working knowledge or experience with first piece inspection, PPAP and AS9102.
Working knowledge of ISO 9000, ISO 14000 and AS9100.
Availability for nonstandard or extended work hours.
Lift equipment up to 30 lbs.
Must currently hold or have the ability to become DMIR (FAA).
Bona Fide Occupational Qualification: Visual acuity test and color vision screening will be performed after offer/acceptance of position. Hiring is contingent upon a passing score of 20/25 (in both eyes) and passing of the color screen.
Bona Fide Occupational Qualification: Hearing acuity test screening will be performed after offer/acceptance of position. Hiring is contingent upon passing all 6 frequencies at 4 audio levels on right and left ears.

The hiring range listed in this posting is what we, in good faith, anticipate relying on when confirming an hourly rate for this position; exceptions may be considered for highly experienced candidates with multiple years of at-level experience.
Target hourly hiring range: $18.00 to $22.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.
Profit Sharing Bonus – OTTO believes that it’s fair to share the profits that the employees help to make; profit sharing is distributed to employees twice a year. OTTO’s profit sharing plan is paid at the discretion of the company and is not a guaranteed bonus or any part of a compensation plan.
Vacation: five days after 30 days of employment and 80 hours at 1 year – vacation time is earned on the anniversary date.
