ABB’s Distribution Solutions Division provides utility, industrial and commercial customers with safe, smart and sustainable technologies for the distribution of electricity. With ABB AbilityTM enabled digital solutions at its core, our extensive portfolio includes distribution automation products, switching, limiting, measuring and sensing devices, switchgear, modular substation packages, and related services. Rail Business Development Specialist (BDS) will be responsible for developing new business within new markets and existing customers. BDS will lead promotion of ABB Rail portfolio in front of the clients supporting them to address their technical and commercial needs. And lead ABB Energy Storage solution market development in Canada and US. Your responsibilities
Accountable for the achievement of the Rail ESS segment budget of the region, based on key objectives set by NAM segment Leader.
Identify and develop new business opportunities to maintain and grow the sales pipeline for Rail segment in Canada and US.
Promote in front of the clients AC and DC Rail portfolio including Rail Energy Storage Solutions (ESS).
Work closely with product specialists and technical proposal managers in developing solutions to meet customer’s needs.
Work closely with the customer to develop scope and communicate these requirements for order fulfillment to sourcing and operations.
Team with other ABB sales groups to target strategic customers by leveraging existing relationships.
Responsibility for customer relationship development and incremental sales growth.
Review and influence customer specifications to assure compliance and/or noted exceptions for development of equipment and service quotations.
Make technical presentations to all levels of customer organization.
Continuously assess market trends, customers, and competitors to identify early-stage opportunities with stakeholders, existing and potential new customers.
Give feedback to the Business Units/Product Groups on market trends, competitive landscape, market-pricing expectations, and local conditions to win.
Understand and actively help to refine customer expectations, needs & specifications.
Communicate efficiently the benefits of our product and project-specific system offerings.
Your background
University or Technical degree in Electrical Engineering.
At least 5 years of experience in sales and marketing of railway business.
Understanding and experience with railway application, products, and services.
Strong sales background with Power Electronics knowledge.
Exceptional communication and negotiating skills and customer-focused mindset.
Able to lead/manage a cross-country capture team.
Team player with great people skills with exceptional analytical, communication and leadership skills.
Efficient in managing priorities. Must be well organized, responsible, and accountable.
Advanced English level. Proficiency in French an asset. Other languages are considered as a plus.
Location Montreal.
Ability and willingness to travel up to 80% of the time within Canada and US, some overnight travel required.
Interest in Rail as sustainable transportation future (an asset).
