Sales Support Advisor – Medicare Growth Team

Job Overview:  The Sales Operations Advisor will report to the CSB Sales Director within the Medicare Growth team. This individual will work directly with the Director of Sales and their corresponding sales teams to support key projects, initiatives and day-to-day activities for the distribution channel.  The individual must be able to work autonomously and with limited supervision or guidance. They will be responsible for working with key matrix partners such as finance, actuary, operations, legal, marketing, IT, project management and other matrix partners as necessary to implement projects.

Additionally, this role will interface with Cigna's external business partners in an account management function. This may require managing a list of initiatives or issues in flight with the given party, working successfully to implement and/or resolve items across departments. Strong project management skills will also be required to track the work and to communicate effectively to all parties.

Understanding multiple product lines within the Government Business will be required to support the channel.  The successful candidate will bring strong business process skills, strong sense of business ownership and intellectual curiosity to this role.

Responsibilities:

• Leads key initiatives in support of the sales channel.  Defines objectives, develops recommendations, and identifies key resources needed to accomplish goals. Represents the sales channel as a subject matter expert on key initiatives to ensure the best outcome with an eye toward growth, efficiency, and delivering an exceptional customer, client and broker experience.
• Identifies existing challenges, gaps, and new opportunities within the sales channel; problem solve as needed and incorporate into current and future work as appropriate. Independently determines direction for resolution and appropriately escalates as needed.
• Functions as the liaison to matrix partners/SMEs and provides support of new products, partners, tools or groups to the appropriate channel and platforms; ensures education and understanding of sales partners to succeed in the field.
• Represents the distribution channel in internal meetings as a proxy for the Sales Director, ensuring the needs of the channel are understood and discussed, as appropriate
• Functions as account manager for key relationships. Ensures concerns and initiatives are documented, managed and communicated effectively to all parties.
• Manages all aspects of internal sales meetings
• Maintains budget and supports forecasting for the channel
• Creates sales meeting presentations for internal and external constituents
• Functions as a single point of contact/go-to resource for the Sales Director
• Leads special projects as assigned.
• Shares best practices and knowledge of the business with peers to drive sales, improve service and unify the Cigna brand.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree 
• At least 5 years’ experience in a business role supporting projects, working within a sales organization preferred
• Must have a strong sales-orientation
• Strong attention to detail and professionalism
• Comfortable with ambiguous situations
• Must be resourceful and able to navigate through a highly matrixed business
• Strong problem solving, research, project management, and time management skills
• Works independently yet a team player and collaborates with key partners in a highly matrixed organization
• Takes initiative when challenges arise to solve and suggest new processes and procedures to mitigate future difficulties
• Occasional Travel: <25%
