The role leads a team of data scientists and machine learning engineers to develop, deploy and manage cutting-edge machine learning models and algorithms directly creating value across the healthcare value chain, starting with health plan medical management operations. Responsible for design, testing, implementation, maintenance of models natural language processing (NLP), artificial intelligence (AI), and other advanced data science techniques. A methodological expert and technical resource supporting the data scientists, the Sr Manager will mature the data science organization operating model, efficacy and efficiency. They will work closely with the VP of Data Science to develop a roadmap supporting the product needs.
Advanced level professional providing professional input to complex assignments/projects and providing direction to more junior professionals within the Machine Learning job family.; Supports the design and implementation of creative software solutions for a broad range of problems using data science and machine learning. Exercises judgment in the evaluation, selection, and adaptation of both standard and complex techniques and procedures; uses in-depth professional knowledge and acumen to develop models and procedures, and monitor trends, within Machine Learning. Tasks involve forward planning and anticipation of needs/issues.
Our near-term focus is building solutions to address problems within the domain of prior-authorization, and our long-term problem space is incredibly broad and open-ended. As such, to identify the next generation of problems that we will tackle, we interact regularly with a diverse group of stakeholders that includes representatives from Cigna (Evernorth’s parent company), Evernorth (the independent health services business unit within Cigna), clinicians and hospital networks (with whom we have partnerships), and ultimately the patients we seek to help.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 132,800 – 221,400 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.
This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
