Looking for an opportunity to join a strong team? We are hiring! Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated Resident Engineer to serve as an integral part of our Construction Engineering and Inspection (CE&I) team. This position is based out of the Houston Texas area.

How will you contribute to the team?
Responsible for the administration and observation of construction activities for major road and bridge construction to determine if the quality of the work performed by the contractor meets clients’ needs and governmental requirements and conforms substantially with plans and specifications.
Works with Project Manager (PM) and Construction Superintendent (CS) to direct subordinate internal staff involved, along with subconsultant staff, in the observation, testing and sampling of construction materials, observation of construction work, and documentation of plan revisions and work progress.
Coordinates construction monitoring with PM and CS to resolve problems, disputes and scheduling of work, and to prepare contract change orders and supplemental agreements.
Is responsible for reporting project cost and quality control activities to the PM.
Performs duties on projects that involve a combination of conventional and complex features, requiring the application of sound and diversified professional engineering knowledge and judgement in broad areas of assignments, including the coordination of various projects.
Performs such other duties as the PM and client may deem necessary.
Experience working with TxDOT is preferred.
What you will contribute?
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent, plus fifteen years’ experience in a combination of engineering design and construction/construction observation activities, including management and supervision of field personnel.
Strong skills in leadership, organization, management, and oral/written communications,
Ability to direct highly complex and specialized construction engineering administration and inspection program.
Familiarity with TxDOT specification and standards preferred
P.E Registration required
