As we plan for the spin of the business

the Worthington Steel team is seeking a Senior Tax Analyst to be a key contributor to what will be a newly formed internal tax team. We seek a smart

innovative

and curious tax professional with basic tax knowledge and accounting skills. You will work closely with the head of tax and others in the department as we define and set up what we do and how we do it.

The ideal candidate will contribute ideas and suggestions freely to the overall process design and not afraid to challenge the status quo. Candidates will have some previous experience with ASC740 and tax compliance preparation and a passion for tax process optimization.

This position will report to the Global Tax Operations Manager directly and will support the Global Tax Technical Senior Manager indirectly.

Primary Responsibilities:

Technology & Process Improvement:

• Assists with identifying and implementing process improvements to streamline and automate recurring calculations.
• Willingness to serve in Super User capacity for the tax software ensuring that the software is properly maintained and as a go-to technical resource for the tax team.

Tax Accounting:

• Prepares the worldwide tax provision computation and reporting including calculating the effective tax rate

  current and deferred tax provisions

  taxes payable

  and return to provision adjustments.

• Assists with the collection and review of the tax data required for the for US tax provision.
• Maintains FIN 48 and other reserve computations and documentation.
• Performs internal control responsibilities related to accounting for income taxes and compliance filings.

Tax Compliance:

• Prepares monthly

  quarterly

  and annual tax filings for Worthington’s corporate subsidiaries and joint ventures.

• Assists with preparation of all international aspects of the U.S consolidated federal income tax return including but not limited to E&P

  Subpart F

  GILTI

  and FDII.

• Reviews activities at various locations to ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws.
• Researches

  analyzes

  prepares

  and maintains book to tax differences.

• Performs tax research and prepares supporting memos for tax positions.
• Assists with tax audits and respond to various tax notices from tax authorities.
• Liaises with cross-functional teams to obtain information or provide information.

Desired Skills and Experience

• Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

  Business or related field.

• CPA or Masters in Accounting or Tax

  preferred but not required.

• 3+ years of overall tax experience in a corporate in-house environment and/or public accounting firm.
• Self-motivated

  collaborative

  and demonstrates a strong sense of urgency & sensitivity around compliance deadlines.

• High level of attention to detail

  extremely well organized

  and able to manage multiple work requirements to meet deadlines.

• Good understanding of technology applications including experience with OneSource Tax Provision

  Oracle

  Excel

  and Word.

• Basic understanding of US GAAP

  ASC740

  and US federal and multi-state tax laws.

• Ability to work independently with strong ownership of work product.
• Passion and experience identifying and implementing process improvements and proficiency in technology and automation tools.
• Flexible and adaptable to change in response to new information

  different or unexpected circumstances

  and/or ability to work in ambiguous situations.

• Willingness to participate in multiple areas of tax.

This position will be hybrid (60% in office) and have minimal travel (5%).
