Position Summary
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada (Hybrid)
Thales is looking for a Senior UX Designer. In this role, you will design physical and virtual cloud products together with customers, lead ideation sessions and design sprints, as well will create user journey maps and complex prototypes, and iteratively nurture ideas to solutions.
This role will contribute to the evolution of UX at Thales across the world. The ideal candidate will be excited about designing together with the user and enjoy the challenge of managing the design lifecycle of wide variety of products on a global market scale.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Make fundamental decisions on the design of a product using information gathered through research and business requirements.
Improve the UX of multiple products by owning projects from start to finish.
Present concepts and prototypes to executives and stakeholders while understanding the principles behind each design.
Work closely with UX researcher on an ongoing basis to monitor client metrics and update feature designs accordingly.
Create user journeys and service blueprint diagrams that combine and balance business goals with UX; and create sketches, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes for product features.
Work together with engineering, and product management to iterate on designs, as well as lead workshops, design sprints, design studios with Thales’ stakeholders and customers.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and/ or diploma in product design related disciplines such as Product Design, UX, Visual Design, Interaction Design, Human Interface Technologies, User Experience and Customer-Centered Design, Other design or front-end-development-related education.
5 years of design industry experience.
Working experience in all major product design areas:
Usability research
Ideation workshops
Solution design
Prototyping
UX testing
Proficient in industry leading design tools such as: Figma, Axure, Miro, Adobe XD, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign.
Proficient in building user journey maps and service maps.
Prior experience in providing design direction using user centered principles.
