ABB’s Distribution Solutions Division provides utility, industrial and commercial customers with safe, smart and sustainable technologies for the distribution of electricity. With ABB AbilityTM enabled digital solutions at its core, our extensive portfolio includes distribution automation products, switching, limiting, measuring and sensing devices, switchgear, modular substation packages, and related services. We are seeking a strategic sourcing specialist who can develop and implement strategic sourcing plan and procure the best possible materials, supplies, and services at the most competitive prices. The ideal candidate will have experience in the negotiation of contracts and the management of supplier relationships. They will also be able to effectively communicate the company’s needs to suppliers and negotiate favorable terms. Additionally, they will be responsible for the development and implementation of strategies to improve the company’s overall purchasing power. Your responsibilities
Develop and implement strategic sourcing plan for the selected products and solutions!
Negotiate contracts/frame agreements for various products and services to ensure the best possible price and terms are agreed upon.
Work actively with front ends team to ensure back-to-back terms with suppliers on strategic projects.
Prepare and issue request for proposals (RFPs), request for information (RFIs), and request for quotes (RFQs)
Evaluate bids and proposals, selecting vendors and service providers based on best value, quality, and delivery.
Actively engage in project hand off meetings with ABB project team to gain understanding of project procurement requirements, ensuring requirements are properly captured and communicated with suppliers.
Responsible for finding new sources of supply.
Responsible for qualifying suppliers and supporting supplier credit checks process.
Participates in supplier development.
Maintain and develop good long-term supplier relationships.
Works with engineering department to ensure proper technical handover package.
Manage supplier performance, developing and maintaining positive relationships.
Manages non-conforming material and warranty claims with vendors.
Provides procurement services in compliance with ABB’s purchasing polices.
Your background
Possess a Diploma or University degree.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in procurement with proving track record of cost savings.
Strong technical knowledge.
Strong negotiations Skills.
Experience in analyzing/preparing terms and condition.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with vendors and team members.
Experience with SAP Business Management System (ERP).
Operational Experience – Experience in working in a matrix/cross functional organization.
Knowledge and experience with Lean Six Sigma concepts.
Strong communication & organizational skills, proactive, results-oriented; tactful and diplomatic.
Fluent in English & French (Written & Verbal) is an asset.
