ABOUT THE POSITION
The Riverside County Flood Control is recruiting for a Temporary Engineering Aide who will assist with and maintain the file room organized by establishing a filing system for easy file access. Incumbent will also have the responsibility of scanning documents, cataloging, filing records, organize the and maintain the physical upkeep of the File Room.
The Engineering Aide is the entry level classification for office and field sub- professional engineering work and reports to an appropriate supervisory or manager level position. Experience assisting engineers researching and retrieving documents, reports, maps, and other public records is desired. Incumbent should have organizational skills and the capability to work independently, possess a California Driver License as the position may require driving.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Work in the maintenance Section assisting in the processing of incoming complaint calls and organize information related to such calls to schedule the work to Supervisors.
• Research and retrieve information from various District data base and archived files.
• Assist the public with inquires related to the maintence of flood control facilities.
• Help to coordinate the workflow in the maintenance sections for both regions (East and West).
• Work with personnel in various divisions throughout the district to coordinate the myriad of tasks related to regulatory, survey, real estate, and payment issues.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge o f: Basic knowledge of computer software typically used in a business office setting (e.g spreadsheet, word processing). Basic understanding of maps. Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions and work cooperatively with others.
Ability to: Learn the techniques and practices involved in assigned sub-professional engineering work; perform mathematical computations; keep clear and accurate notes; perform simple drafting; understand and follow oral and written directions; work cooperatively with others.
Desired Experience: Knowledge of, or experience with database software. Ability to learn database routines. Agility to devise database routes. Ability to work independently at times. Experience in organizing workflows and developing procedures. A superior candidate will have will have the ability to adapt to shifting priorities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and strong writing skills.

DEFERRED COMPENSATION: Voluntary employee contribution with a choice between two 457 deferred compensation plan options.
VACATION ACCRUAL (Bi-Weekly Accrual):
0< 3 year = 80 Hours (10 Days)
4< 9 years = 120 Hours (15 Days)
10 or more years = 160 Hours (20 Days)
Maximum Vacation leave accumulation is 480 hours.
SICK LEAVE: Four (4) hours Sick Leave accrual per pay period with unlimited accrual.
HOLIDAYS: Normally 12 paid holidays per year
BEREAVEMENT LEAVE: Allowed 5 days (3 days are County paid; 2 additional days can be taken from accrued Sick Leave balance)
BASIC LIFE INSURANCE: Equal to one times annual base salary not to exceed $50,000 of term life coverage. Premiums are paid by the County. Additional Supplemental Life plan is available for employee purchase.
DISABILITY: Short-term Disability benefit pays up to a maximum of $461.54 weekly, payable up to a maximum of 52 weeks.
POST RETIREMENT MEDICAL CONTRIBUTION: A monthly contribution is made by the County towards retiree health insurance offered through the County as governed by the applicable Memorandum of Understanding.
